The Kyrö Distillery Company in Finland has been surprising us with spirits on a rye basis since its opening in 2014. Kyrö Juuri is one of those. The spirit is based on 100% purest and finest Finnish rye malt and can be described as something like a Nordic Single Malt Rye Whisky redux.
Sweet and spicy rye notes pose the main attraction in this clear and unaged whisky. There is a subtle dryness, which is supported by hints of liquorice root on the palate. The finish amazes with the soft taste of Finnish rye bread. You should absolutely taste this neat on its own at first and then decide what to enjoy it with!
