Velho Barreiro Cachaça is being distilled in a sugar cane factory in a suburb of São Paulo. This was founded in 1909 by Paschoal D'Abronzo and adopted as a family business. At first they made syrup, vinegar and soft drinks, but with his sons he developed the idea of ​​bottling alcohol from the huge 100 liter and 200 liter drums into small 750 milliliter bottles. Cachaça is still stored today in very large wooden barrels that can contain around one million liters.
